In a flipped classroom the role of the teacher consists in record all of his lectures and post them online, on the other hand, his students' role starts when they download or watch video lectures online at home by using their computers. Why is that? Why do they have to study at home? Well, the purpose of this model is to engage the students as much as possible in class, by doing this, they will be able to spend more time actively working instead of being passively sitting though lectures.
Advantages
1) Students will have more one on one time with the teacher when students need extra help. As a result teachers will promote better student-teacher relantionships.
2) Students will learn at their own pace as they will have the chance to rewatch videos and spend more time mastering all the concepts which they may find difficult to learn.
3) Students will be encourage to learn. By using this model, students will be able to move forward in their own learning once that they have demonstrated their full understanding about the concepts involved.
4)Absenteeism? Not a problem. Since the video lectures are already posted online, students who may miss classes because of illness, family vacations or school trips are covered and can catch up even if they are out of town.
